For the first time since 2000, a new version of the Burgundy Book has been agreed by the five teacher trade unions and the National Employer’s Organisation for School Teachers.
The Burgundy Book is already incorporated into the contracts of employment of all teachers in local authority and voluntary aided schools, as well as in the vast majority of academies. It should be noted that this is a purely technical update of the Burgundy Book and there have been no changes to the terms and conditions of members.
From June 2023, colleagues and establishments should refer to the 2023 revised edition of the Burgundy Book.
