ASCL agrees that the proposed changes to member contribution rates will achieve the statutory objective of maintaining the member yield of 9.6% following the latest scheme valuation and that the lowest-paid members continue to receive protection through lower contribution rates.
ASCL is pleased that of the rectification proposals discussed and modelled, the method subsequently agreed by the Teachers’ Pensions Scheme Advisory Board (TPSAB) has been accepted in the consultation as the proposed amendment to contribution rates.
ASCL supports the proposed amendment to include bereaved partners parental leave (BPPL) within the definition of paternity leave, which aligns the TPS regulations with wider legislation and ensures members taking BPPL are treated appropriately for pension purposes.
