ASCL members recognise that, despite the fact there are some similarities between the current assessment of French, German and Spanish and the proposed assessment, including elements of listening, speaking, reading and writing and translation skills, there are however some areas of concern which may lead to unintended consequences in the teaching and assessment of these subjects and which require further urgent clarification.
