As we prepare for the biggest change to national curriculum and assessment arrangements in a decade, our ever-popular ASCL Curriculum Conference focuses on how you can lead and manage that change across your school or college.
The day opens with one of the first opportunities to unpack the final curriculum, set firmly within the political landscape we lead in. Alongside timely updates on the government’s wider reforms, Ofsted inspection, and changes to assessment, we’ll explore:
- what is new, what has moved and what has gone
- the timeline for revised GCSEs
- the end of the EBacc and the triple science guarantee
- what the requirement for academies to follow the national curriculum means for trust-wide curriculum models
Curriculum expert Mary Myatt will explore how senior leaders can work with heads of department and curriculum leaders to help them prepare teachers for change, ensure the curriculum is being delivered as intended, and empower staff to go beyond delivery of a nationally defined set of outcomes.
Practical workshop sessions from school leaders will explore how literacies or transferable skills can be embedded and tracked across subject curricular, how enrichment can be seen as a core part of the curriculum, not additional to it, and practical steps in your role as a senior leader responsible for curriculum.
Finish the day with a clear plan for how to lead curriculum change back in your school or college, with a medium-term strategy leading to first teaching of the new curriculum in September 2028.
