Successful Post‑16 Timetable Construction: tools, techniques and real solutions

Part of our Successful Timetable Construction series, focused on the specific demands of post-16 delivery.

This 90-minute virtual webinar focuses on timetabling tools and techniques for post-16 delivery, whether in a pPost- 16 college or school sixth form. The session is delegate-led, allowing the group to choose its focus areas from options such as subject block construction, flexible pathways, collaboratives, small sixth forms, maximising teacher and accommodation resources, and post-16 scheduling techniques. Delegates will have the opportunity to work through solutions to their own specific issues.

Places are limited to ensure the session remains interactive and responsive to delegates' needs.

Post-16 timetabling carries its own distinct challenges, balancing flexible pathways, collaborative arrangements, and limited teacher or accommodation resources against the need to keep choice genuinely open for students. Generic timetabling approaches don't always translate well to a post-16 context, and many leaders are managing these pressures with little opportunity to problem-solve alongside others facing the same issues. This workshop offers focused, practical input on the techniques and tools most relevant to post-16 delivery, with limited places allowing real engagement with each delegate's specific context.

Delegates leave with practical solutions to their own post-16 timetabling challenges, developed through discussion with a small group of peers facing similar issues. For organisations, this means a post-16 offer that makes fuller use of available staffing and accommodation while keeping pathways and choice as flexible as possible for students.
