Ofsted inspection is one of the most high-stakes moments in a school leader’s professional life, and under the renewed framework, the landscape has shifted. Knowing what inspectors are looking for, how to present your school’s story with confidence, and how to manage the process from first notification to final report card has never been more important.
This practical one-day workshop, led by ASCL policy specialists Andy Jordan and Kathryn Morgan, gives you the knowledge, tools and hands-on practice to approach inspection from a position of strength. Particularly valuable for leaders preparing for their first-ever inspection, it is designed to be directly relevant to your own context. Delegates are asked to bring their SEF, SIP and IDSR on the day.
Participants will:
- understand the renewed Ofsted framework and the common themes emerging from inspections under it so far
- apply school self-evaluation to the renewed framework, including making best use of your IDSR data
- plan and rehearse your planning call so you are fully prepared when notification comes
- develop techniques for managing challenging conversations with inspectors with confidence
- leave with a clear set of next steps and the confidence to act on them
A Course Plus event
Your place includes more than a one-day course. ASCL’s Course Plus model is designed to support sustained, practical professional development so your learning continues beyond the room.
The day
A hands-on workshop combining expert input from Andy Jordan and Kathryn Morgan with peer discussion, personal reflection and practical activities. You will work directly with your own school’s data and documents, making the learning immediately applicable to your context.
The planning call practice session
Following the course, you will have the opportunity to take part in a mock planning call with Andy or Kathryn online - deliberate practice in a supportive environment before the real thing. This is your chance to rehearse, ask questions and build confidence at the moment it matters most.
