New to Leading and Managing Data

This new, full-day course will cover everything a new data team - to include the school leader and the data manager - will need to know. Ideally you will come together, but individual staff are also welcome.

Covering key principles to bear in mind when working with performance data, the session will cover key dates to be aware of, tasks and responsibilities for data leads and managers throughout the year, exam results days, making sense of internal and external data, your ASP and IDSR, and how to work with governors.

Learning outcomes
  • Understand the range of performance measures, including census data and checking exercises and dates, and know what information can be found and where
  • Be prepared for key tasks and accountability points through the academic year.
  • Understand the purpose and use of external accountability tools such as ASP and IDSR, transition data and FFT.
  • Know what data analysis platforms are available and how to choose the right one for you.
  • Know which groups of students to track in school and why.
  • Be aware of the options for robust and effective target setting.
  • Know how to share information with governors and/or the whole staff and how to use data to support school improvement.
