National Crime Agency: Cyber Choices programme

This webinar introduces the National Crime Agency’s Cyber Choices programme, a national initiative formed in 2017 designed to safeguard young people and adults from committing illegal cyber activity while encouraging the development of positive, lawful cyber skills.

The session begins by outlining what Cyber Choices is, why it exists, and how it supports individuals who may be at risk of or have committed low-level cyber dependent offences. Participants will gain an understanding of the programme’s purpose in promoting awareness, early intervention, and constructive pathways into cyber security education and careers. Participants will learn how to make a referral into the programme and how we can work together to prevent young individuals knowingly or unknowingly committing cyber crime.

The session aims to build awareness, encourage responsible online behaviour, and empower professionals to play an active role in safeguarding individuals through Cyber Choices.

Participants will:

  1. increase their awareness of the Computer Misuse Act 1990 and online behaviours which break this law.
  2. increase their awareness of the Cyber Choices programme and the educational resources available.
  3. understand how to make a Cyber Choices referral for suitable individuals.
