ASCL Associates Short Story Competition 2026

During the summer of 2026 we invited members to submit entries to our inaugural short story competition. We asked for original fiction of up to 1,000 words, with the money raised by the £5 entry donated to the ASCL Benevolent Fund. The entries were judged by members of the ASCL Associates Committee.

Judge Patsy Kane, Chair of the Associates Editorial Committee, said "Birthday was a moving story and beautifully written, we thought, but all of the entries were impressive."

Thank you to everyone who took the time to take part in this competition and many congratulations to our winners.
We will be holding another competition in 2027.
