There is renewed interest in and around curriculum quality, particularly following HMCI Amanda Spielman’s recent announcements concerning Ofsted and other researchers’ focus on the curriculum.

ASCL’s Curriculum Conference will help leaders to think broadly about what curriculum is, think deeply about what pupils really need from it, and distribute that thinking across the school. Delegates will explore why there is a need to re-evaluate curriculum thinking, in particular by developing an understanding of the role played by ‘powerful knowledge’. Through developing our curriculum expertise, we can better meet the needs of all pupils.

The conference poses three key questions:

  • What do we mean by curriculum?

  • How do we develop depth of curriculum thinking for the benefit of all pupils?

  • How can leaders build capacity by distributing curriculum expertise?

ASCL’s Curriculum Conference aims to stimulate leaders’ curriculum thinking to best meet the needs of their pupils. A range of speakers will include current school practitioners, with the conference led by ASCL’s Curriculum and Inspection Specialist Stephen Rollett who sat on Ofsted’s Curriculum Advisory Panel.

This conference is suitable for headteachers, principals, assistant headteachers, vice principals, and members of the senior leadership team with responsibility for leading the curriculum, and for those based in primary and secondary phases.
