These seminars are designed to support school leaders and governors in preparing their school communities and stakeholders to understand and interpret the 2017 changes to exams and grading.

Delegates will be given resources they can use with parents, staff, local politicians, media and employers to build local understanding about the changes. Delegates will also receive expert public relations advice about planning for and managing the message. Our new General Secretary, Geoff Barton, will lead the seminar alongside Deputy Director of Policy Duncan Baldwin or Curriculum and Assessment Specialist, Suzanne O’Farrell.

Delegates will:

  • understand how the reformed English language, English literature and maths GCSEs will be reported in summer 2017, the currency of grades going forward and the implications at school and national level

  • know how grade boundaries will be set in the new grading structure and understand the impact this may have

  • have expert advice on creating your own local communications plan
