Analyse School Performance

09:00 - 16:00, 28 March 2018 Birmingham

"As always, an expertly delivered session which made the ASP completely accessible even to non-statisticians."
Past delegate, 2018

This one-day course provides an introduction to the replacement system for RAISEonline – Analyse School Performance (ASP). It is not aimed at those who would have considered themselves to be advanced users of RAISEonline, but instead provides an introduction to the data within ASP and how to interpret it.

With an overview of the structure of ASP and how this data can be used effectively by schools, this course will help participants understand the crucial performance information within ASP, illustrating how it can be used within inspections. As part of this, the course will examine how the outcomes section of the Common Inspection framework might be interpreted by inspectors.

The course will also consider how Progress 8 reports have been integrated within ASP, and includes a discussion on how transition matrices can be used to monitor 'departmental value-added'. Illustrations will demonstrate how data can be used when completing a school’s self-evaluation.

Delegates will:

  • have greater confidence in analysing reports within ASP

  • understand how Ofsted makes use of the information within ASP

  • be able to identify which data reports have particular significance

  • be able to apply general principles to the data relating to their own school (participants may find it helpful to have access to ASP during the course so that they can refer to their own data)

  • be shown how to benchmark the performance of a range of departments against national data

Suitable for headteachers, deputy headteachers, assistant headteachers, middle leaders, aspiring headteachers, data managers and governors.
