Leading On - Building Whole School Mental Wealth

This webinar will explore the ways in which a school can promote the mental health of its community whilst responding to the mental health needs of the individuals within. The discussion between the speakers will examine the benefits of a whole school approach to mental health and the positive impact on the wellbeing and achievement of pupils and staff.

Jaime Smith brings a strategic overview of the DfE and DHSC Green Paper initiatives and goals for mentally healthy schools, with her knowledge and insight of the programmes being rolled out to educational settings nationally by the Anna Freud Centre for Children and Families. Dr Julie Greer will share practical examples of supporting the social emotional and mental health needs of her school community which has informed her recent work with mental health charities and the DfE.

Participants will:

  • explore current government programmes in relation to mental health and education
  • understand ways in which good mental health provision impacts on the wider wealth of the school community
  • gain practical examples of effective mental health provision for pupils, both in school and whilst learning remotely
There will also be the opportunity to ask questions and share ideas with other attendees.
