ASCL Cymru welcomes initiative to cut teacher workload

14 September 2017

Education Secretary Kirsty Williams today announced £1.28m of investment to fund new school business managers and help reduce unnecessary workload for teachers.

Tim Pratt, Director of the Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL) Cymru, said:

“ASCL Cymru warmly welcomes the announcement of additional funding to create further business manager jobs in Welsh schools.

“We are in no doubt that good school business managers have the potential to significantly reduce the workload of school leaders, giving them more time to focus on the main purpose of their jobs, improving the standards of learning and teaching in classrooms.

“We hope that some of the funding may be used to create effective solutions across clusters of secondary and primary schools, and build on the experience of many secondaries which already have highly successful business managers.”
