ASCL Cymru welcomes funding for teachers’ pay award

14 September 2018

Commenting on the UK government’s announcement of £23.5m to fund the pay award to teachers in Wales, Tim Pratt, Director of the Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL) Cymru, said:

“We are pleased that the UK government has recognised its responsibility to fund the teachers’ pay award in Wales and we will now be studying the detail carefully to ensure that schools get the money they need. Schools will be relieved this matter has been addressed because the cost of implementing an unfunded award would have been unaffordable. This matter aside, however, the stark reality is that school budgets are under enormous strain and schools urgently need more investment.”
