ASCL Conference for Business Leaders 2017

08:00 - 17:00, 16 May 2017 Birmingham

What does the future hold for us as a profession?

This is a question frequently posed by school business leaders; the increase in and ongoing growth of multi-academy trusts (MATs) is re-engineering leadership in education in a way we’ve not seen before.

We have executive leadership boards incorporating new roles and titles such as Executive Head, CEO, COO, and CFO.

Notwithstanding these developments, the thread of ethical leadership that continues to bind us all is the desire to ensure that children and young people have the best possible opportunity to access the education they need to set them off on their journey for life.

What are the implications for school business leaders?

Our conference theme, Next Generation Business Leadership, looks at developing our thinking about what the next generation business leader will look like.

We need to be more focused around succession planning, and take stock of the skills and competencies we need to prepare us for our new roles in the sector.

The weight of the financial challenges creates a burden many are struggling to carry, and we need to share strategies which might support colleagues in finding the best solutions for their schools and colleges.

ASCL Conference for Business Leaders is a day out of school giving you time to reflect on how the role continues to evolve, and where you see yourselves in this brave new world.

Hear the latest news and information from a range of keynote speakers and government ministers. You will also hear from Geoff Barton, ASCL’s General Secretary, who will address the conference for the first time. He will share his views on how the profession is evolving and the pivotal role school business leaders play in shaping the sector for the future.

ASCL Conference for Business Leaders will also provide opportunities to access CPD to hone your own skills in a wide-ranging programme of workshops, as well as participate in some invaluable networking with colleagues to share good practice.

For those arriving the evening before the conference, there will once again be an informal networking event hosted by Zenergi, now a popular and integral part of the conference.
