Tables Checking Exercise

02 October 2018

The window to check the results of pupils opened on Thursday 27 September. Measures published in performance tables are based on this data so ensuring it is correct it vital. Schools see their provisional Attainment 8 and Progress 8 results as part of this exercise, which for the first time includes adjusted scores for pupils with very low scores.

ASCL, in conjunction with SMIDreport, has produced a free online toolkit to help schools check their results. This toolkit incorporates the analysis tools based on Attainment 8, Progress 8 and Transition Matrices which ASCL has previously released as separate spreadsheets. You can register to use the toolkit at www.ascl.smidreport.com

There are new, tighter guidelines for applying to remove pupils from performance tables. The June checking exercise covered eligibility of pupils whereas the September exercise is focused on correct grades. If there are concerns about this process, or other aspects of the data checking exercise, please email us with a succinct summary of the issues at data@ascl.org.uk
