The School Teachers’ Review Body 27th Report: 2017 was published 10 July 2017 and contains the recommendations on how to apply the pay award for teachers, due to be implemented from September. The DfE has also published a draft revised copy of the STPCD (see below). There is now a consultation period on both the recommendations and the draft STPCD which ends on 28 July.
The STRB has recommended a 2% uplift to the minima and maxima of the main pay range and a 1% uplift to the minima and maxima of all classroom teacher and leadership pay ranges and allowances in the national pay framework. If, following the consultation period, the recommendations are accepted, then a classroom teacher/leadership group member who is paid on the minimum of his or her pay range/band, must have his or her salary, excluding any allowances, uplifted to the new minimum.
For all other classroom teachers/leadership group members, schools must determine, in accordance with their own pay policy, how to take account of the uplift to the national framework in making individual pay progression decisions.
Once the consultation is completed, ASCL will provide a copy of uprated discretionary pay ranges for those schools that use them.
