The DfE has made 2016 data available. Schools’ provisional Progress 8 and Attainment 8 scores are included. These provisional figures will be published nationally in October. As expected, many schools have increased entry into EBacc subjects for pupils of low prior attainment.
This has raised the average Attainment 8 scores for those pupils quite considerably. Schools may therefore see a fall in their Progress 8 figure if they were using last year’s averages. Changes are likely to be smaller overall for pupils with high prior attainment.
The data checking exercise is open until 10 October 2016.
The guidance to Progress 8 has been updated with the latest guidance dated September 2016 available here
