Primary assessments

24 February 2016

The DfE has announced that the deadline for primary schools to submit Key Stage 1 and 2 teacher assessments has been postponed to 30 June. Schools Minister Nick Gibb confirmed the change in response to concerns raised by the sector.

Clarification about the 2016 assessment arrangements, intended to reduce misunderstandings that could increase workloads, will also be sent to schools. Regional schools commissioners have been asked to take into account the new, more rigorous standards when considering performance this year. Nick Gibb has also written to Sir Michael Wilshaw to ask that Ofsted inspectors consider the changes when reaching their judgements.
