Ofsted’s National Director, Education Sean Harford has a highly active Twitter account, with much of the conversation centred on Sean’s continuing quest to dispel old myths about Ofsted inspections. #HelpSean has been used to promote awareness of Ofsted’s ‘myth busters’ document and seems to have had some success in doing so.
However, ASCL’s Inspections and Accountability Specialist Stephen Rollett, says that many school leaders are still looking for clarification regarding aspects of inspection beyond those addressed in ‘myth busters’. Stephen says, “Although the Common Inspection Framework (CIF) has not changed since 2015, there were changes to the 2016 inspection handbook that have provoked enquiries from ASCL members, particularly regarding inspection in light of changes to performance measures. Moreover, some aspects of the CIF continue to be subject to misconceptions.”
Stephen would like feedback from you about which aspects of inspection you require further clarification on. Join the conversation on Twitter by using #HelpSteveHelpSean
In addition, Stephen is leading the ASCL Professional Development seminars on Preparing for Ofsted, taking place on 30 November in Birmingham, 9 February in London and 21 March in Leeds. Click on the appropriate link to find out more and book your place.
