Identifying schools for improvement support

05 February 2019

Alongside the recruitment and retention strategy, the Department for Education has published a consultation on how it proposes to identify schools eligible for support. The department hopes to simplify the accountability system by removing the floor and coasting standards, and instead use Ofsted ‘Requires Improvement’ judgements as the sole eligibility criteria for schools to receive an offer of improvement support. In doing so, the department seeks to remove unnecessary pressures on teachers and school leaders that can result from the current system of multiple data standards. The department would welcome your views on the proposals.
