Grants for international exchanges for schools in England

18 June 2019

The British Council has grants available to enable schools to provide students with an intercultural experience. The visits can be used to enhance curriculum teaching, improve language learning or help build soft skills. Grants are aimed at young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

For schools that don’t have a partner school, the British Council is arranging seminars in Spain, France, Germany and China in the autumn term to allow schools to set up a partnership and plan an exchange. All arrangement, travel, accommodation and meal costs will be covered and there will be the opportunity to meet overseas teachers and build partnerships, visit a school and some cultural visits. Details are as follows:

China 5-10 November in Kunming and Fujian. This is an opportunity for 1-2 teachers from 15 schools to attend.

France 17-20 October in Le Havre. This is an opportunity for 1-2 teachers and 2-3 pupils (Year 8 or 9) from 15 schools to meet with similar schools from France.

Germany 28 November – 1 December in Dusseldorf. This is an opportunity for 1-2 teachers and 2-3 pupils (Year 8 or 9) from 15 schools to meet with similar schools from Germany.
