Disability Matters in Employment: new resource for schools and colleges

18 September 2018

A new resource is available to support further education colleges and schools, and help them build links with employers to create and sustain supported internships and lasting employment opportunities for disabled young adults. The resource is part of a project and has been produced by London Councils, the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, and Preparing for Adulthood.

Disability Matters is a free, high-quality e-learning programme launched in 2015 to support those who work or volunteer with disabled children and young people from 0 to 25 years to help them achieve what matters to them. It challenges attitudes and behaviours around disability, as well as improving staff confidence and communication skills. Each 20 minute module was co-authored by a disabled young person, a family carer and another expert to make sure it is focused on what disabled young people want.
