The EFA and SFA have updated their funding guidance to reflect the fact that the 16-19 maths and English condition of funding has been extended from November 2016 to summer 2017 to cover the teaching of legacy GCSE specifications in those subjects. The same rules apply to IGCSEs and equivalent Level 1 and 2 certificates counting towards the EBacc measure. This will mean that IGCSE and equivalent Level 1 and 2 resits throughout the 2016/17 academic year, will also be approved for teaching under the 16-19 maths and English condition of funding, and resulting achievements will count towards the new progress measure.
IGCSEs and equivalent Level 1 and 2 certificates will cease to be approved for teaching under the 16-19 maths and English condition of funding after summer 2017, and will also be removed from post-16 accountability tables. As previously announced, the only Level 1 and 2 English and maths qualifications that will count in the 2017 Key Stage 4 tables will be the new reformed GCSEs.
