Advice hotline

To ensure members are put in touch with the most appropriate person as quickly as possible, the first point of contact for advice and support is ASCL’s hotline, 0116 299 1122.

ASCL’s hotline team includes former school and college leaders, full-time regional and field officers, and a team of specialists providing impartial and confidential support and guidance to members. Areas covered include inspection, pay and conditions, pensions, funding, FE, business management, legal and parliamentary issues.

The hotline is staffed by one or more duty officers from 9am to 5pm during the working week. At these times, calls are first answered by a member of the reception team who will request brief details such as membership number and name to enable calls to be transferred as efficiently as possible.

Outside office hours, weekends and Bank holidays

In cases of emergency or urgency, duty officers can be contacted directly using the mobile phone number provided on the ASCL answering machine. Calls are then referred to the relevant regional, field or specialist colleagues as appropriate, and dependent on the nature of the enquiry.

Queries can also be made by email to (please include your mobile or landline number in your email), or by post to:
