Commenting on the latest school attendance statistics
, Geoff Barton, General Secretary of the Association of School and College Leaders, said:
“We are delighted to see figures showing attendance at all schools at its highest level since the beginning of the pandemic. It is particularly pleasing to note the drop in the number of secondary school pupils having to self-isolate as a result of either having a positive test result or coming into close contact with someone who has tested positive.
“With attendance levels at broadly what we would expect to see during a typical academic year, it is hard to believe that just seven weeks ago all schools were just emerging from a lengthy period of closure. Enormous credit must go to schools and their staff for all the amazing work they have done in a very short time to re-establish the normal patterns of education.”
