Commenting on the arrangements
set out today for assessing GCSEs, AS levels, and A levels in Wales in 2021, Eithne Hughes, Director of the Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL) Cymru, said:
“This plan sets out a workable and fair approach to assessing GCSEs, AS and A levels following the cancellation of exams.
“It is flexible enough to address the fact that students have been affected by the pandemic to greatly varying extents, maximises teaching time, and is sufficiently robust to ensure the validity of these qualifications.
“Students can have confidence that they will be assessed fairly and will receive qualifications which allow them to progress with their lives.
“We look forward to receiving more detail about the assessment materials and working with the exam board on the precise arrangements.”
