16-19 study programmes

January 2019

The guidance on the review of end-of-year 16 to 19 study programmes data for 2016 to 2017 has now been updated, with the most significant change being that those 16-18 year-olds who have already achieved at least a grade 4 in English and maths, will not now be funded for undertaking a main programme qualification at entry or Level 1.

This announcement has been met with some disagreement as this would mean that if a young person with those grades wanted to train in a new area such as construction, they would have to start at Level 2.
