Opportunity for free, externally-assessed feedback for Y11 GCSE English language students

14 January 2020

Ofqual is seeking around 25 volunteer schools and 3,000 volunteer Year 11 students to take part in a study to explore the role technology might have in making the quality of marking in England even better. Each school needs to provide one essay to a set question from each student wanting to participate.

Ofqual will use the essays for an early stage research study exploring whether AI technologies could have a role in identifying where examiners might have made an error whilst marking.
Students taking part will receive externally assessed marks and annotations on their essays from experienced examiners.
Any school teaching the AQA GCSE English Language specification can take part. If you are interested in participating, or have any questions, please email ai.challenge@ofqual.gov.uk
