We are seeking a Senior Solicitor to lead our in-house legal department. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced employment solicitor with leadership experience to join a values-driven organisation where your work will be both challenging and deeply fulfilling.

Your role
As Senior Solicitor, you will:

  • Manage and lead ASCL’s legal team, ensuring high-quality advice and representation for members.
  • Provide internal legal guidance to ASCL staff and officers.
  • Have care and conduct of your own cases by representing members in employment disputes, tribunals, professional discipline cases, inquests, and public inquiries.
  • Deliver training and legal updates to support continuous professional development.
  • Liaise with external legal partners and regulatory bodies.

About you
You are:

  • A qualified Employment Solicitor (England and Wales). We feel that this role would suit someone with 10 years post-qualification experience (PQE).
  • A confident leader with a track record of managing teams and complex legal matters.
  • Skilled in handling your own caseload including tribunal litigation, regulatory representation, and strategic legal advice.
  • Proficient at making swift, reasoned decisions and finding effective solutions.
  • Passionate about education, justice, and making a difference.
