The education landscape is experiencing a period of ongoing structural change. What are the implications for school business leadership professionals?

How can we continue to adapt our skills and competencies to accommodate and rise to the challenges we face?

With increases in, and implementation of growth patterns in multi-academy trusts and other group structures, the centrality of business leadership in ensuring systems and processes are fit for purpose is ever more apparent.

School business leaders face significant financial challenges, managing budgets in a climate where costs continue to rise in a climate of ‘real terms’ income stagnation, together with ongoing apprehension surrounding the impact of implementing a new national funding formula.

School business leadership practitioners are expected to provide viable solutions to a myriad of these issues, whilst at the same time ensure that business functionality remains efficient and effective.

How can the profession continue to evolve and face “next generation challenges”?

ASCL Conference for Business Leaders 2017 provides an invaluable opportunity for colleagues to explore and discuss strategies which will help to support this evolution process. You will hear the very latest political perspectives from government and ASCL officials. There will be opportunities to network with other business leaders and practitioners, to share good practice and discuss the viability of sustainable options to address the current raft of challenges facing our profession.

The conference programme includes keynote presentations, a series of breakout workshops (some of which will be interactive discussions), and an opportunity to network with colleagues. For those arriving the evening before the conference, there will once again be an informal networking event hosted by Zenergi. This has become a popular and integral part of the event.

Keynote speakers include:

  • Nick Gibb
Minister of State for School Standards (invited)

    ASCL Interim General Secretary

  • Sian Carr
