Remit for STRB urgently needed

ASCL welcomes the announcement that Dame Patricia Hodgson has been appointed chair of the School Teachers Review Body. ASCL General Secretary Brian Lightman said:

“We warmly welcome the appointment of Dame Patricia to the STRB. She has a broad range of experience which will serve her well in this challenging role and we look forward to working with her. The STRB has not been able to progress its work for many months while the position was vacant, which means there are a number of major issues around pay and conditions which need addressing urgently, such as executive heads’ remuneration and the link between teacher standards and progression. The sooner the committee can make real progress on these the better, and we hope that a remit for the committee is high on ministers’ agenda.”
