Ofqual letter to centres on VTQ results 2024 and beyond

Chief Regulator of Ofqual, Dr Jo Saxton, wrote a letter to heads of schools and colleges on 12 October 2023, to confirm arrangements for the timely delivery of results for students taking VTQs this academic year and beyond. Recipients are asked to share the letter with their exams officers.

These arrangements are similar to those used in 2023, and are an important step towards parity of treatment for VTQ students.

Awarding organisations will work with centres to identify which students need a result on or before results days in August for progression to further or higher education. This term-time checkpoint will be completed before the main exam season begins in May.

Arrangements will apply to Level 3, Level 1/2 and Level 2 VTQs used for progression. Awarding organisations will provide details about which of their qualifications are in scope, and results will be issued to students on or before A level/Level 3 results day and GCSE/Level 2 results day, as appropriate. Awarding organisations will release results to schools and colleges in advance, to give sufficient time for them to be checked before final release.
